A large directional reflector format widely used for floodlighting, security and high-output accent lighting.

How to identify PAR38

PAR38 is nominally 38 eighths of an inch, or 4¾ inches, in diameter.

Common applications

Security floods, landscape lighting, façades, high ceilings, stages, warehouses and retail accents.

Technologies and base options

PAR38 lamps are produced in LED, halogen and incandescent forms with spot and flood beams and varying weather ratings.

Technologies represented in this library: LED, Incandescent, Halogen.

Available base types: E26, E27.

Typical market availability

Technology Common wattage range Typical lumen range Common colour temperatures Common voltage options
LED 12–30 W 900–3000 lm 2200K, 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K, 5000K, 6500K 12V; 120V; 220–240V
INCANDESCENT 75–150 W 900–2000 lm Approximately 2700K 120V; 220–240V
HALOGEN 45–120 W 700–1800 lm Approximately 2800K–3000K 12V; 120V; 220–240V

These are representative market ranges, not guaranteed limits. Availability varies by manufacturer, voltage, base, beam, region and product generation.

How to select the correct lamp

Match base and voltage, then choose beam angle for the mounting distance and confirm sensor, dimmer and wet-location compatibility.

Compatibility and safety

Outdoor exposure requires both a suitable lamp and a suitable fixture. A PAR38 shape alone does not mean the lamp is wet-location rated.

Important: The library describes a lamp format, not a particular product. A shared shape does not guarantee matching voltage, base, dimensions, light distribution or control-gear requirements. Confirm the fixture label and product datasheet, or ask a Bulb World lighting specialist.

Replacement Notes

Match base and voltage, then choose beam angle for the mounting distance and confirm sensor, dimmer and wet-location compatibility.

Capability Warning

Outdoor exposure requires both a suitable lamp and a suitable fixture. A PAR38 shape alone does not mean the lamp is wet-location rated.
