2D Lamp

A compact flat fluorescent format with a double-D tube arrangement that produces broad light from shallow fixtures.

Bulb Technology

Available Bulb Base

A compact flat fluorescent format with a double-D tube arrangement that produces broad light from shallow fixtures.

How to identify 2D Lamp

A 2D lamp bends a narrow tube into two adjacent D-shaped loops. Two-pin GR8 and four-pin GR10q versions are electrically different.

Common applications

Bulkhead fixtures, corridors, stairwells, bathrooms, exterior wall lights, hospitality properties and public buildings.

Technologies and base options

2D lamps are available as fluorescent products and LED replacements in multiple wattages, sizes and control-gear configurations.

Technologies represented in this library: Fluorescent, LED.

Available base types: GR8, GR10q.

Typical market availability

Technology Common wattage range Typical lumen range Common colour temperatures Common voltage options
FLUORESCENT 10–55 W 600–4000 lm 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K, 6500K Ballast-operated
LED 5–25 W 500–3000 lm 2700K, 3000K, 4000K, 5000K, 6500K 120–240V direct-wire or ballast-compatible, depending on product

These are representative market ranges, not guaranteed limits. Availability varies by manufacturer, voltage, base, beam, region and product generation.

How to select the correct lamp

Match lamp wattage and dimensions, then identify whether the base is GR8 or GR10q and whether any LED replacement is ballast-compatible or direct-wire.

Compatibility and safety

GR8 two-pin and GR10q four-pin lamps are not interchangeable. LED replacements may also require ballast removal or a specific supply connection.

Important: The library describes a lamp format, not a particular product. A shared shape does not guarantee matching voltage, base, dimensions, light distribution or control-gear requirements. Confirm the fixture label and product datasheet, or ask a Bulb World lighting specialist.

Replacement Notes

Match lamp wattage and dimensions, then identify whether the base is GR8 or GR10q and whether any LED replacement is ballast-compatible or direct-wire.

Capability Warning

GR8 two-pin and GR10q four-pin lamps are not interchangeable. LED replacements may also require ballast removal or a specific supply connection.
