How to identify RGB and RGBW LED Strip Light

RGB strip normally has four conductors for a shared supply and red, green and blue channels. RGBW generally adds a fifth conductor and a dedicated white LED channel.

Common applications

Events, entertainment spaces, hospitality, retail displays, signage, feature walls and architectural accents.

Technologies and connection options

RGB blends red, green and blue channels to create colours. RGBW adds a separate white channel and requires a matching controller, power supply and connection system.

Technologies represented in this library: LED.

Available base or connection types: Four-Pin RGB, Five-Pin RGBW, Soldered Lead.

Typical market availability

RGB LED

Common power: 3–5 W

Typical output: Product-specific / primarily decorative

Colour options: Dynamic RGB colour mixing

Voltage: Commonly 12V or 24V DC

Notes: Power figures are per foot. Output is often specified by individual channel or with all channels active.

RGBW LED

Common power: 4–7 W

Typical output: 100–350 lm

Colour options: RGB plus 2700K, 3000K, 4000K or 6500K white channel

Voltage: Commonly 24V DC

Notes: Power and representative white-light output figures are per foot.

These are representative market ranges, not guaranteed limits. Availability varies by manufacturer, voltage, length, environmental rating, region and product generation.

How to select the correct system

Choose RGB or RGBW first, then match voltage, strip width, conductor count, controller type, white-channel colour temperature and driver capacity.

Compatibility and safety

RGB and RGBW products use different conductor counts and controllers. Similar-looking connectors do not guarantee electrical or control compatibility.

Important: This library entry describes a lighting format, not a particular product. Similar appearance does not guarantee matching voltage, connectors, dimensions, output, environmental rating or control requirements. Confirm the product label and datasheet, or ask a Bulb World lighting specialist.

Replacement Notes

Choose RGB or RGBW first, then match voltage, strip width, conductor count, controller type, white-channel colour temperature and driver capacity.

Capability Warning

RGB and RGBW products use different conductor counts and controllers. Similar-looking connectors do not guarantee electrical or control compatibility.
