A large A-shaped general-service lamp used when substantially more light is required than common household A-lamp sizes provide.
A identifies the familiar pear-like general-service envelope. The number 25 represents a nominal maximum diameter of 25 eighths of an inch, approximately 3⅛ inches.
High-output pendants, workshops, utility rooms, large table or floor lamps and commercial fixtures with adequate internal clearance.
A25 lamps are found as high-wattage incandescent products and high-output LED replacements, generally with medium screw bases.
Technologies represented in this library: LED, Incandescent.
Available base types: E26, E27.
| Technology | Common wattage range | Typical lumen range | Common colour temperatures | Common voltage options |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LED | 20–50 W | 2500–7000 lm | 2700K, 3000K, 4000K, 5000K, 6500K | 120V; 120–277V; 220–240V |
| INCANDESCENT | 150–300 W | 2500–6000 lm | Approximately 2700K | 120V; 220–240V |
These are representative market ranges, not guaranteed limits. Availability varies by manufacturer, voltage, base, beam, region and product generation.
Confirm the screw base and supply voltage, then measure overall diameter and length. Compare lumens, colour temperature, enclosure rating, dimming and permitted operating position.
An A25 may use the same medium base as an A19 while being much larger and potentially producing significantly more heat or light.
Important: The library describes a lamp format, not a particular product. A shared shape does not guarantee matching voltage, base, dimensions, light distribution or control-gear requirements. Confirm the fixture label and product datasheet, or ask a Bulb World lighting specialist.
