T8 Tube

A widely used tubular format with a nominal diameter of one inch.

Bulb Technology

Available Bulb Base

A widely used tubular format with a nominal diameter of one inch.

How to identify T8 Tube

T8 means a tubular lamp eight eighths of an inch—1 inch—in nominal diameter. Common bases include G13 bi-pin, FA8 single-pin and R17d recessed double-contact styles depending on length and system.

Common applications

Offices, schools, supermarkets, warehouses, hospitals, workshops and parking structures.

Technologies and base options

T8 tubes exist as fluorescent lamps and as several electrically different LED retrofit types: ballast-compatible, single-ended bypass, double-ended bypass and external-driver.

Technologies represented in this library: LED, Fluorescent.

Available base types: G13, FA8, R17d.

Typical market availability

Technology Common wattage range Typical lumen range Common colour temperatures Common voltage options
LED 6–40 W 700–5000 lm 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K, 5000K, 6500K 120V; 220–240V; 100–277V; ballast-dependent options
FLUORESCENT 15–75 W 800–6000 lm 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4100K, 5000K, 6500K Ballast-operated

These are representative market ranges, not guaranteed limits. Availability varies by manufacturer, voltage, base, beam, region and product generation.

How to select the correct lamp

Match tube length and base, then identify the existing ballast and wiring method before choosing output, colour temperature and lens type.

Compatibility and safety

Incorrect LED-tube wiring can create a shock or fire hazard. Ballast bypass and rewiring should be performed by a qualified person.

Important: The library describes a lamp format, not a particular product. A shared shape does not guarantee matching voltage, base, dimensions, light distribution or control-gear requirements. Confirm the fixture label and product datasheet, or ask a Bulb World lighting specialist.

Replacement Notes

Match tube length and base, then identify the existing ballast and wiring method before choosing output, colour temperature and lens type.

Capability Warning

Incorrect LED-tube wiring can create a shock or fire hazard. Ballast bypass and rewiring should be performed by a qualified person.
